If there is one lesson in life that is important it is leave things better than when you found them. My mom taught me this as a young child. She made sure that I took good care of my belongings which is why I still have many of my childhood toys. And whenever I went to a friend’s house, she would always say, “be sure to pick up when you are finished playing. Leave things in better condition than when you found it.” This same lesson holds true for people.

We should leave people better than when we found them. There is something to be said for improving their character.

We don’t often think of the other people who will come along to pick up the pieces. We show little regard for the person who will have to put much effort in mending a broken heart. Nursing the wounds to allow time for healing.

I look back over the course of my short existence with very few regrets… but I will continue to make an effort to leave a positive impact on the lives that I touch. I take good care of the things that matter most to me, my friends.
